Completely uneven toasting. Toast is often unpredictable as well. A setting of 1 will burn toast, and the bagel functionality (ie, toast more on one side than the other) completely non-functional, or perhaps it is always in "bagel mode" and no one knows it. A look at the element intensity shows no difference when the toaster is in the bagel mode. I think that i have the settings down, but then the second batch of toast comes out burned after a passable first batch. disappointed all around.
I was particularly impressed with the defrost function because I like to toast frozen bread. Congrats to Cuisinart for getting it right. Finally, here is a toaster that browns your toast evenly on both sides. The brushed chrome finish and rounded corners are pleasing to look at. It's simple to use, elegant looking, and makes great toast.
Very hot. The old cheap one was replaced solely for the fact that it was white and didn't match the new kitchen decor. About 2 months ago after toasting some bread I walked by the toaster and noticed it was still hot. Unfortunately over $89 (the "discounted" price you were going to let me replace my bad toaster for) you've lost my business for life.
Note to cuisinart: Yes, reviews are basically blogs by anonymous people. In today's information age, a company manufacturing poor quality products, backed up by poor quality warranties, will have a tough time surviving as customers bring their issues to public review sites such as this. In the 3 years I've owned it I don't think it's toasted both sides of the bread evenly once. My wife thought I was crazy for spending $100 on a toaster. First, some background; I bought this toaster to replace a perfectly good wally-world $10 special that I bought back around 1991 for probably about $10.
Since I don't have a receipt they offered to sell me one at a discount off the $149 suggested retail price, which was basically about what I paid for the new one. So in short, they are producing a bad toaster, put my house and family at risk, and want me to pay to replace it with another of the same model. With thoughts of my house burning down I unplugged it and called cuisinart. A rash of issues with our house/kitchen remodel and both elderly parents going through health issues kept the toaster issues from being a priority and I've lived with it, albeit unhappily, for 3 years. So I unplugged it and thought it was too hot to still be cooling off.
The other day the same thing happened; the toaster stayed hot, as hot or hotter than making toast, although the unit was off. Unfortunately I've had the displeasure of owning this toaster for 3 years. Brilliant. Most of the reviews here are average or below (fully 45% are 1 or 2 stars, and many clearly state they would be lower if amazon allowed "no stars" to be chosen). Odd that when confronted by this info over the phone, cuisinart's own CSR MANAGER tells me there is "no known issue or problem" with their product, and that reviews are "just blogs by anonymous people and don't mean anything".
Anonymous CUSTOMERS, consumers of your products. The people who put their faith in your to produce a decent, SAFE product. And while my appliance expenditures certainly won't keep cuisinart in business, the cumulitive effect of yet another poor review on a website, and poor word-of-mouth (happy customers tell one person; unhappy customers tell 10) will likely seep dollars out of your bottom line in an economy where shoppers are forced to spend their hard-earned dollars wisely.
We made the mistake of purchasing the cuisinart model CPT-180 in stainless solely on looks as it matched the rest of our shiny new stainless kitchen. A note to those that have the same toasting issues as I've had; please be sure to unplug this toaster after each use or risk burning your house down, or worse yet, killing your family with this thing. The next few tims I used the toaster I kept my eye on it and it seemed fine.
I shudder to think of what would have happened had I not been home. So to Cuisinart I say good luck in the future, and I'll continue to base my shopping decisions on reviews from sources like Amazon and Consumer Reports.
I love this toaster. The great retro style, plus the high-tech brushed stainless finish combine to give this toaster an edgy look that I don't mind leaving out on the countertop all the time. There are lots of practical settings without a bunch of unnecessary options that would make it too cumbersome to deal with on a daily basis. All in all, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
this is the best toaster, with my other ones i always had to cook the bread twice to get i right. I hope everyone gets one , their the best.
